about

Creeping Pink, the ongoing concern of primordial seer Landon Caldwell, has been steeping for awhile now, with a million self-released cassettes and a 12" on Castle Face Records. The potency here is no surprise. The Creeping Pink Sound is characterized by transcendent mystery and a fascination with noise and repetition. Those sympathetic to the UK comedown between psychedelia and punk should find comfort in Parliament of Trees.

This one marks a departure from Creeping Pink's loner-with-a-tape-recorder approach and finds Caldwell recording with a full band of long-time collaborators from groups he's served time in like Learner Dancer and Burnt Ones. The results are a primitivist reverie aimed into the subatomic layer of heavy-vibe stuff where textural excursions both caustic and beautiful resolve into economically arranged song fragments. The palette expands beyond the Syd Barrett and early Psychic TV laced miniatures that populate the Creeping Pink catalog into substantial rock treatments, framing cues from Mick Farren, Les Rallizes Dénudés, and the Dead C.
